What We Believe

Statement of Faith for Trinity United Presbyterian Church

Adopted by Session 9-16-15

WHAT WE BELIEVE

At Trinity United Presbyterian Church of Santa Ana (Trinity), we are a community grounded in the Word of God, the Bible. We depend on God’s grace and the transforming power of His Spirit as we follow our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ.

We believe the message of Jesus is truly good news. Jesus is our hope in the midst of brokenness, our peace in a culture of anxiety, and our direction in an era of confusion. God’s Word teaches us that, in spite of opposition and apparent futility, life in Christ is bursting with hope, meaning and purpose. We humbly trust that through Jesus Christ’s life, death and resurrection, each of us is called to embark on a life-giving road of transformation where we are rescued, forgiven, healed, and made new.

We desire to help individuals explore what it means to be a disciple of Christ, to develop a biblical world view and to live life as God intends.

Final Authority for Matters of Belief and Conduct

Trinity’s statement of faith is expressed in the Constitution of ECO: A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians (ECO), which includes the Essential Tenets and Confessional Standards and the ECO Polity and Discipline. The statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of humankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of Trinity’s faith, doctrine, policy, and discipline, our Session is Trinity’s final authority on the Bible’s meaning and application.
