Take a moment to just breath. Be grateful for where your life is, for how God has brought you here, and for how He will continue to lead you.
Read // Exodus 17:1-7
As Moses strikes the rock and the waters gush out, God has yet again provided for His people. Water is a desperately needed resource for human life. We can never underestimate its importance. I get pretty grumbly when I am thirsty and hungry. That’s for sure. The human body is made up of mostly water and cannot last very long without it. When God provides in this story, as elsewhere, He provides abundantly:
“he struck the rock, and water gushed out, streams flowed abundantly” Psalm 78:20
Just as the rock was struck and produced waters of life for the people, so too Christ was struck on our behalf. When he was pierced on the cross, water and blood poured out from his wound; the blood that would save us and the water that would bring us spiritual life (John 19:34). This is the water that would never again leave us thirsty (John 4) but would provide for our very life, which would be life abundant (John 10:10).
How is Christ meeting the needs in your life right now? What other sources of life have you been looking to besides Him?
“Lord, thank you that you chose to save me, the worst of sinners. Thank you that you continue to provide life abundant through your life given for me. Would you fill my cup and help me to pour myself out for others.”
