Disabilities Ministry
“Glorifying God with our abilities. Serving others in His love.” -Romans 12:6-8
In 1998, Rev. Bob Pietsch and eight volunteers worked on a special task force to support those with disabilities. Their work focused on three groups in our community: the physically challenged, the developmentally disabled, and those with mental illness. The result of their work was the beginning of the Disabilities Ministry at Trinity.
The goal of Disabilities Ministry is to demonstrate God’s love by serving needs of the physically, mentally and developmentally challenged community, and working toward total inclusion in the life of Trinity through worship, study, service and fellowship.
Here are 5 key ways you can be involved:
pray for those with disabilities
volunteer to serve at events (provide meals, lead games, hospitality)
donate Target gift cards for the Christmas party
join the NAMIWalks Team
help with Hope’s Nest transportation or monthly lunch
Trinity loves to share the love of Jesus with these groups that meet regularly on our campus.
- HOPE’S NEST A faith-based, monthly support group for adults facing mental health challenges. Meets the second Sunday of every month at 12PM in the Munzing Hall Fireside room for a light lunch and Christian devotional. Members encourage one another through sharing and discussion.
- FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE An entertainment event that Trinity hosts three times a year for the developmentally disabled in our local community and throughout Orange County.
- CAPERNAUM A branch of Young Life, sharing the gospel with teenagers with disabilities and helping them grow in their faith by providing opportunities to have fun, build self esteem and explore a personal relationship with God. Capernaum holds regular events on Trinity’s campus.
- NAMIWALKS A 5K event every year held at Angel Stadium supporting the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Be a part of our Team Trinity United!
- CHRISTMAS PARTY A celebration for Hope’s Nest and friends held at Trinity each year with dinner, dancing, games, and gifts.
